You are probably wanting to know a little bit more about the people who will be representing you as part of the Kidsgrove Independents?

We believe in being open and honest, so below please find a quick and easy review of some of the Kidsgrove Independents who will be standing for election.

Ray Williams

Ray is the founding member of the Kidsgrove Independents. Ray has previously been a member of both the Labour Party and UKIP, before deciding that it was about time that Kidsgrove had a true voice. Ray has passionately campaigned for many years about how Kidsgrove has been neglected at the hands of Newcastle Borough Council and firmly believes that Kidsgrove can be a town which not only aspires to be better, but also thrives.

Ray is one of the most dedicated members of the local community that you will meet. His passion was recently been demonstrated with the closure of Kidsgrove Sports Centre. He was upset by the fact that local Labour councillors appear to have stood back and allowed this to happen - something that Ray is determined will not happen under the Kidsgrove Independents.

Nigel Morgan

I’m Nigel Morgan, 50 years old and I’ve spent all of my life in and around the Kidsgrove Area. I was born in Butt Lane and lived in this area until I was 30; however 15 years ago I made the move to Whitehill, where I reside today.

I am a father of 4 girls and also now a proud grandfather. My family are really important to me and it makes me immensely proud to see how they have progressed in life. What disappoints is the fact that my grandchildren will not have access to the same local facilities and services that my children experienced – purely down to council spending decisions.

I am a mechanic by trade and this is a profession that I entered into when I left school. I have owned businesses both in the motor and manufacturing trades, however due to ill health I was unfortunately forced to give up full time employment. As a result I am now semi-retired, hence feel that I now have the time and passion to dedicate to the community.

You may have seen me out and about in the community? I regularly will be found getting involved in litter picking or community traffic schemes, whilst also being associated with the Kidsgrove scouts and Kidsgrove scouts drum corps for almost 40 years. I am also a regular attender to council meetings, using the public questioning sessions as a chance to challenge and hold our elected members to account.

If I was to be elected to represent the community of Newchapel, then I can assure every single resident that I will fight passionately for your interests. Being elected will give me an increased platform to challenge our councillors and ensure that our views are not being overlooked and side-lined at the expense of those in Newcastle.

I am a firm believer that I can make Newchapel a more prosperous and enjoyable place to live, work and socialise.
