Kidsgrove residents can rest assured that their best interests will be represented on Newcastle Borough Council, following the news that Margaret Astle and Reg Bailey are the Kidsgrove Independents representing Kidsgrove on Newcastle Borough Council.
The Kidsgrove Independents believe in representing the views and interests of Kidsgrove, a town that has long been forgotten and neglected by the Labour councillors who have represented the area for years. No longer will Kidsgrove councillors be voting for vanity projects that benefit councillors like the new Civic Hub in Newcastle. In fact if we get our way Newcastle-Borough-Council's share will be sold off.
Councillor Margaret Astle commented "I'm delighted to be part of a group who no longer care about party politics, just the interests of the people in Kidsgrove who have elected us. I am truly shocked and saddened by the sudden closure of Kidsgrove Sports Centre! It really beggars belief! This is the final nail in the coffin for Kidsgrove and the surrounding area's. I will continue to represent you on Newcastle Borough Council as a member of Kidsgrove Independents and campaign to save our much-loved sports centre."
Ray Williams group leader commented "I'm delighted to have such fantastic, community focused and hard working councillors in Margaret and Reg joining the Kidsgrove Independents. I know they will fight really hard for Kidsgrove and the fight starts immediately as this week we believe the Newcastle-Borough-Council should be either committing to build a like for like replacement sports centre or support the community group financially who are looking to re-open the centre."
